Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies is seeking an Electrical Apprentice 1 to shadow journeymen and learn to read blueprints, diagnose electrical problems, and repair systems. You will assist with installing new electrical systems, support with wiring layout, and help ensure safety and compliance with plans, specs, and codes.

Qualifications

• 0-2000 hours (0-1 year) of experience as an entry level electrician or helper, with basic knowledge of electrical craft.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, driving records)

Responsibilities

• Assist a journeyman electrician and follow instructions.
• Learn to use hand and power tools to assist the electrician, including measuring, cutting, and bending wire and conduit.
• Perform minor repairs such as replacing fuses, sockets, bulbs, and switches.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies organized; assemble/disassemble defective equipment as needed.
• Load, transport, and furnish materials and supplies to the electrician.
• Participate in safety processes, report hazards, and use stop-work authority when required.
• Prepare and assist in planning and layout under supervision, and learn to read blueprints and industry standards.
