GENERAL DUTIES:
Responsible for skilled work involving the repair, maintenance and calibration of all electrical and electronic equipment pertaining to wastewater treatment and collection (pump stations), including, but not limited to, motors, motor starters, motor control centers (MCC’s), variable frequency speed drives (VFD’s), flow meters, instrumentation, and communications equipment. Coordinates preventative maintenance schedule for all electrical and electronic equipment. Works collaboratively with operations personnel and other Sewer Division staff on the design, review, start-up and operation of projects that include electrical, electronic equipment and systems. Performs and/or coordinates maintenance activities on electrical and electronic equipment.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Maintains all logs and records including inventory control for electrical and electronic equipment. Works closely with and assists maintenance repair technicians (mechanics), wastewater attendants, laboratory staff and Sewer Division management as required. May perform after hours work to troubleshoot, resolve and repair electrical and electronic equipment. Performs other related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices relating to the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment. Thorough knowledge of solid-state electrical equipment. Considerable ability to use electrical and electronic testing equipment. Considerable ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and electronic design plans and instructions. Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as a member of a work crew. Some knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and SCADA. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, vendors and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school, technical or trade school plus two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training substituting on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Connecticut Driver’s License.
