BASIC SUMMARY:
The Electrical and Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, start-up, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems (480V and below), Building Automation System (BAS), and stand-alone Process Logic Controllers (PLCs). This position oversees electrical and controls projects, troubleshoots systems, and acts as the main point of contact for electrical and controls systems used throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage the site’s electrical systems and Building Automation System (BAS), including upgrades, programming, installations, and ensuring proper operation.
2. Generate and review BAS reports to maintain system health and GLP compliance.
3. Plan and perform preventative maintenance and repairs on controls-related HVAC and plant equipment.
4. Analyze electrical and automation/control systems; design and implement improvements.
5. Provide remote troubleshooting and support for BAS and other control systems.
6. Collaborate with Engineering and Facilities teams to design control sequences that improve efficiency.
7. Program standalone PLC platforms for systems like mechanical equipment, waste management, and cold storage.
8. Guide technicians and contractors, ensuring the successful completion of electrical and control tasks.
9. Coordinate with various departments on electrical and automated equipment and systems.
10. Troubleshoot and repair electronic control system malfunctions, hardware, and software issues.
11. Oversee installation, setup, and commissioning of third-party integration devices.
12. Integrate sensors and sub-systems using protocols such as BACNet, N2, and Modbus.
13. Create or collaborate on graphics for BAS interfaces.
14. Act as project manager for assigned projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
15. Work with IT and automation contractors to support system operations and maintenance.
16. Oversee installation and commissioning of controllers to support site growth and upgrades.
17. Maintain project timelines and budgets.
18. Ensure clear communication among all project stakeholders.
19. Interface with vendors related to control systems and equipment.
20. Supervise work of BAS service contractors for quality and completion.
21. Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
