Job summary

Choice Machinery Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Controls Engineer to work on control systems for woodworking equipment. This full-time position at our Holland, MI factory requires a strong background in electrical engineering, PLC programming, and project management. Ideal candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience and be able to produce schematics and manage projects effectively.

Qualifications

This is a full-time position at our factory in Holland MI.

As an Electrical Engineer / Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for working on many projects such as control systems for our integrated panel laminating lines, conveyance systems and other custom equipment. Position Responsibilities

  • Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope
  • Ability to interpret and implement specifications
  • Allen Bradly, Schneider Electric, Keyence and other PLC and HMI programming platforms
  • Producing electrical schematics from scratch, including BOM’s and panel layouts
  • Work closely with our affiliated controls and automation company, Forefront Control Systems (Holland, MI), on an as-needed basis
  • Serve as backup for UL MTR responsibilities in support of our primary UL MTR when required
  • Supervising plant electricians with the assembly / installation of these systems
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Position Requirements

5-year minimum electrical engineering / industrial automation / systems integration. As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you must have demonstrated experience working on the types of projects listed above to be considered for this position. Other requirements for the Electrical Controls Engineer include:

  • In-depth knowledge of all types of industrial control systems for machinery (Servo Drives, VFD’s, Sensing Equipment and actuators)
  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering, ideally with specialized training in PLC programming.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with Ethernet/IP, CAN Open, and other communication methods
  • Familiar with NEC, UL508A and NFPA 79 standards
  • UL MTR Certification (desired) or ability to achieve UL MTR Certification
  • Familiar with ANSI B11 and ISO 13849 safety standards
  • Ability to understand and follow all safety precautions
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and critical thinking / problem solving skills
  • Ability to organize and manage projects on time and on budget
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Travel

  • We sell and install our systems throughout the North American Market, some travel will be required.
