Job summary

The Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Newark, Ohio, is seeking a Safety Manager (Electric Operations) to develop and administer comprehensive safety, training, and regulatory programs for its electric distribution activities. The role emphasizes proactive safety culture, field presence, incident prevention, and continuous improvement.

You will lead onboarding and ongoing safety training, conduct field audits, investigate incidents, coordinate emergency response efforts, and ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of safety experience in electric utility.
• Proficient in OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E; arc flash mitigation and tagging procedures.
• Strong communicator with ability to train and present to all levels.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and insurability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer safety, health, training, and regulatory programs for cooperative operations and facilities.
• Conduct field audits, crew inspections, and safety trainings to ensure compliance and reduce risk.
• Investigate accidents and near-miss events; track safety performance metrics and corrective actions.
• Support Emergency Action and Crisis/Disaster recovery planning and participate in emergency response activities.
