Job summary

The Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Newark, Ohio, is seeking a Safety Manager / Supervisor (Electric Operations) to lead safety, health, and regulatory compliance programs across its electric operations. The role emphasizes proactive safety culture, field presence, and incident prevention while collaborating with operations leadership and regulators.

Responsibilities include training development, field audits, incident investigations, and emergency response support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of progressive safety experience in electric utilities.
• Experience conducting incident investigations/root cause analysis and delivering training programs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E, arc flash mitigation, switching/tagging procedures, and contractor safety oversight.

Responsibilities

• Develop and administer comprehensive safety, health, training, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and field presence.
• Lead safety audits, investigations, and corrective actions; support emergency response activities.
• Coordinate onboarding and recurring safety meetings; facilitate safety committee meetings and training initiatives.
• Maintain safety records, regulatory reports, and retention files; monitor safety performance metrics.
