Job summary

The Energy Cooperative in Newark, Ohio, seeks an Electric Utility Safety Professional to lead safety, health, and regulatory programs across operations and facilities. You will promote a proactive safety culture through training, field presence, and incident prevention, coordinating with operations leadership and regulators.

The role emphasizes developing safety policies, audits, and continuous improvement, with emergency response participation and contractor oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of progressive safety experience, preferably in electric utility.
• Experience in conducting incident investigations/root cause analysis and delivering training programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E, arc flash mitigation, switching/tagging, line clearance, and contractor safety oversight.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and administer comprehensive safety, health, training, and regulatory programs.
• Conduct field audits, inspections, and contractor safety evaluations to reduce risk and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near-miss events; report safety performance metrics and corrective actions.
• Support Emergency Action and Crisis/Disaster Recovery Plans and participate in response activities.
• Maintain safety records, training documentation, and regulatory reports.
