Job summary

City of Tupelo is seeking a TWL Electric Groundman in Tupelo, MS. The role performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual work in the construction and maintenance of electric facilities, and works safely per construction standards.

Responsibilities include loading materials, placing barricades, digging holes for poles, pouring and finishing concrete, operating small equipment, assisting in pole setting and construction, and maintaining ducts and vaults.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or acceptable equivalent (GED).

Responsibilities

• Loads, unloads and carries materials, supplies and equipment.
• Places barricades and warning lights around work area; keeps work area orderly.
• Digs holes for poles and anchors by hand.
• Pours and finishes concrete.
• Operates small equipment and department vehicle as assigned.
• Assists in setting and removing poles and anchors; assists in pole treatment; assists in construction and maintenance of wooden, steel and concrete structures.
• Performs work necessary in the construction and maintenance of ducts, conduit, transformer vaults and other electric facilities.
• Checks tools/equipment and keeps in order.

Education

High School Diploma or GED (or acceptable equivalent)
