Job summary

Black & McDonald in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a Designer 2 to support electric utility and communications distribution projects. You will perform designs and surveys in accordance with NESC and Owner requirements, develop GIS data, and produce clear design packages for field/office teams.

Qualifications

• Associates from a STEM program.
• Bachelor of Science from a STEM program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform electric utility pole loading analysis with O-CALC Software, PLS CADD, and Katapult Software.
• Design and layout of electric utility distribution system projects in customer GIS and process platforms.
• Deliver completed design projects/work orders on time, according to customer specifications and through a customer process database.
• Occasionally, participate in the acquisition of field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.
• Follow quality practice and procedures by self-checking all work product and checking the work of others as required.
• Follow safety procedures.
• Maintain the GIS database with information from sources including, but not limited to, work management systems, as-built construction drawings, work orders, completion records, field reports or other information from the job sponsor.
• Process and approve completion records, perform manual or computer aided drafting using AutoCAD.
• Produce and distribute construction work orders and job packets.
• Communicate with Designers and Engineers.
• Work effectively in a team environment.
• Learn non-industry standard drafting and mapping software.
• Additional duties as assigned
