Job summary

The Metropolitan Improvement District is seeking a Trike Mechanic in Seattle to maintain and repair a fleet of roughly 60 electric trikes and related equipment. You will ensure safety, reliability, and operational readiness for daily field activities, while keeping precise records of repairs and parts usage.

Responsibilities include assembling new trikes, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, maintaining inventory, and training staff on basic maintenance procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of bicycle/mechanics and repair practices.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on the MID fleet of electric trikes to manufacturer and industry standards.
• Assemble and prepare new trikes for service as needed.
• Repair, build, and maintain wheels with emphasis on durability, safety, and performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair electric drive systems, batteries, brakes, drivetrains, and other components.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
• Monitor inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; recommend purchases.
• Forecast maintenance needs and schedule repairs to minimize downtime.
• Conduct safety inspections to meet standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Assist staff with training on trike operation and maintenance.
• Perform other fleet- and trike-related duties as assigned.
