Job summary

American Electric Power in Kentucky is seeking a Line Mechanic A to assist in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of transmission and distribution facilities. You will operate line trucks and equipment, perform rope and rigging tasks, and contribute to safety-focused field operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
  • Employee shall obtain appropriate licensing as required by federal and/or state law prior to end of probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance, removal and inspection of underground and overhead facilities.
  • Assemble and install Line Material and hardware; use and inspect ropes and rigging equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain tools, equipment and work area; handle company vehicles and records.
  • Safely perform pole top rescue and bucket truck rescue as trained.
  • Set and remove barricades, flags, signs, cones and related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and read meters; complete Monthly Apprentice Cards.
