Job summary

Alamo Cement Company in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Electric Technician to perform skilled electrical maintenance and repair of plant equipment. You will work with electromechanical and solid-state systems, install wiring, and ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code while supporting plant operations.

The role requires reading blueprints and schematics, PLC knowledge, and the ability to lift heavy loads and work outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent
• Technical/Trade School Degree or Certificate preferred
• Licenses preferred but not required
• Methods, equipment and materials used in electrical trade
• General knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code and company standards
• Theory of operation and use of PLCs and computer-based equipment
• Read blueprints, shop drawings and sketches
• Install and troubleshoot PLC-based equipment
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and work outdoors/in varied conditions

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid state electrical equipment using meters and tools
• Install new electrical and electronic equipment and wiring per NEC and standards
• Maintain and repair electrical systems for plant facilities and equipment
• Perform high voltage switching and operate generators to support operations
• Work safely with co-workers and the public
• Follow clearance procedures for equipment
• Comply with codes, safety and environmental regulations
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures as required
