Job summary

Inteplast Group in Houston, TX is seeking an Electrical Technician B to ensure operation, repair, and preventive maintenance of plant production equipment including plastics machinery and HVAC systems.   • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Industrial maintenance degree or similar from a state certified technical school or community college is required. Completion of a 4-year electrical apprenticeship can be substituted.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical components – relays, timers, contactors, proximity switches, etc.
  • Must be able to read multimeters and amp meters.
  • A background in industrial electronics and troubleshooting is required.
  • Experience with PLC controls and variable speed drives is preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Proficiency with PLC controls and variable speed drives is preferred.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Also, must be able to work on-call as needed.
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics.
  • The ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings is a plus.
  • Can work with limited supervision (i.e. night shift).
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair A/C, D/C motors, drives and inverters.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fire panels and alarm systems.
  • Identify and safely work on any switchgear in the plant.
  • Replace non-programmable devices such as relays, contactors, timers, PLC I/O cards.
  • Use soldering for repairs as needed.
  • Check and change motor rotation if needed.
  • Replace plant lighting and ballasts.
  • Check and replace fuses.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Assist maintenance technician in lubrication and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain all equipment in good running order.
  • Ensure that job site is clean and free of hazards.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices when running equipment.
  • Interact with production supervisor during shift and assist on production line when needed.
  • Maintain professional certifications and training up to date.
  • Operate all maintenance equipment safely, follow LOTO procedures at all times.

Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

This position will be under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, ensures the correct operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules of the office, manufacturing, and distribution facilities. This position is for a highly skilled and experienced technician that willperform tasks to install, maintain and/or repair plant production machinery such as plastic resin handling systems, co-extrusion cast film lines, pallet wrapping, thermoforming machines, and paper bag converting equipment.
