Job summary

CEC is seeking a Power Distribution Intern to gain hands-on experience in the electric power industry. You will work with engineers on field surveys and design layouts for high‑voltage facilities, in both office and field environments.

The internship emphasizes problem solving, learning new technologies, and safety compliance, with responsibilities including QC/QA and supporting project activities while collaborating with team members.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• English language skills: read, write, and present information clearly.
• Mathematical skills including probability, statistics, geometry and trigonometry.
• Reasoning skills to define problems, interpret instructions, and handle variables.
• Proficient PC skills; AutoCAD, SpidaCalc, ArcGIS, PLS CADD, NISC, Partner, and MS Office familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs field survey, inspection, and analysis of electric power facilities (4kV through 345kV).
• Uses computer software to create detailed drawings and design layouts for construction projects.
• Participates in QC/QA procedures and maintains design standards.
• Cooperates with engineers, designers, inspectors, and the public on project activities.
• Provides technical support to staff.
• Participates in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Complies with safety policies, practices, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
