Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company in Sheldon, IA is seeking a Line Mechanic - may accept a 1st-step apprentice. Under supervision, you will install and maintain electric distribution and transmission systems, including overhead and underground facilities and related gas pipe work.

Qualifications include a Class A CDL, CIP certification, and either a fully qualified journeyman line mechanic or completion of a one-year line school.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL required; pipeline/Hwy alcohol & drug testing.
• CIP certification is required or preferred.
• Fully qualified journeyman line mechanic or completion of a qualifying one-year line school.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Install, changes, transfers, moves and removes poles and hardware.
• Operate substation equipment to restore service and diagnostics.
• Read meters and locate underground gas/electric facilities.
• Lead, train and instruct employees in their work including switching.
• Inspect poles and towers; perform climbing inspections as needed.
