Job summary

Kapur & Associates, Inc. seeks a talented Designer to deliver electric and gas design services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the We Energies territory.

You will create detailed service designs and small distribution plans using MicroStation, supporting installation and design accuracy while collaborating with contractors and We Energies teams. Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
• Secondary education in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical is preferred.
• Driver license and reliable vehicle required.
• Willing to complete site visits and travel to office in inclement weather.
• Experience in gas and/or electric design services, residential, commercial, or industrial properties is a plus.
• Proficient using design software, specifically MicroStation, with a strong understanding of design principles and best practices is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with builders, stakeholders, and team members.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle a high workload, managing up to 20 projects concurrently.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on producing accurate and error-free designs.
• Patient and adaptable approach to problem-solving, with the ability to navigate challenges and changes in project requirements.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism and discuss design options in a professional manner.
• Self-motivated and proactive attitude, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to gas and electric design services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Use MicroStation to create detailed designs for gas and electric systems.
• Collaborate with builders to understand project requirements and communicate design specs.
• Document and communicate project updates weekly to internal teams.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners.
• Create site plans, determine meter locations, and evaluate routes per standards.
• Meet with We Energy customers onsite to determine equipment and utility locations.
• Provide a list of quantities and develop cost estimates for installations.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
• Evaluate loads to determine proper service and meter size.
• Research and identify potential design issues and propose solutions.
• Assist in improving design processes, tools, and workflows.
