Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking production technicians in Mossville, IL to set up, operate, and inspect machines that manufacture stators and propulsion modules for electric drives. The role involves MIG/Plasma welding, CNC lathe work, welding inspection, and handling wire coils with attention to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or prior work/volunteer experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
• A mechanical background or industrial assembly experiences.
• Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust machines to manufacture, assemble, and test stators and propulsion modules for electric drives.
• Locate, identify and use proper fixtures and tooling to set-up and operate automatic MIG and Plasma weld machines; repair non-standard weld flaws and inspect welds.
• Use blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
• Set-up, operate and adjust CNC Lathe to perform finishing operations on standardized parts.
• Operate machines to form wire coils and wire assemblies; inspect and repair wire assemblies.
• Operate automated and robotic equipment for stator welding and assembly; test assemblies and repair as needed.
• Operate and monitor Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) system for resin sealing in motors/generators.
• Perform measurement and mixing of chemical solutions and apply to parts; operate electric ovens.
• Operate hoists and torque tooling to move and assemble parts; use hand/power tools and packing materials.
• Perform inspection functions to check quality and accuracy of in-process parts.
• Operate mobile equipment and maintain related records; report defects and repairs.
• Perform a variety of manual tasks such as cleaning, weighing, counting, packing and labeling materials.
• Assist with receiving and shipping of parts and materials.
