Job summary

Duquesne Light Company in downtown Pittsburgh is seeking a Distribution Technician (20009) to design and implement projects for the distribution system, including overhead and underground facilities and third party attachments.

The role requires CAD, GIS, and Maximo/NJUNS proficiency, plus a strong customer-facing and regulatory compliance mindset. Advancement through STEP levels is available as experience grows, with a focus on safety and quality work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET accreditation no longer required).
Minimum seven (7) years Journey Lineworker field experience qualifies for the Distribution Technician role without a degree.
At least 3 years’ experience as a Step 7 Technician to advance to Step 10.
Must pass the company-administered TECH test.
Demonstrated knowledge of DLC safety handbook, codes, standards, and operative practices.
Proven ability to work with customers and utility/government representatives and perform CAD/GIS tasks.

Responsibilities

Design and field work for overhead and simple underground distribution facilities.
Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, permits, and related records.
Coordinate projects to ensure timely completion and act as single point of contact for customers.
Inspect and supervise field construction and third party attachments.
Ensure compliance with NEC/NESC and company standards.
