Qualifications

  • EIT/FE Certification or strong preference at Entry/Staff levels; PE registration may be required at Senior/Principal levels as per business need.
  • Senior level requires 5+ years with EIT/FE or 7+ years without EIT/FE; Principal requires 9+ years with PE or 15+ years without PE.
  • 0+ years relevant experience for Entry Engineer; 2+ for Staff; 5+ with EIT/FE or 7+ without for Senior; 9+ with PE or 15+ without for Principal.
  • Experience with distribution utility equipment and familiarity with utility engineering software are beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical expertise in a particular area of specialty.
  • Perform plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment work within a defined scope.
  • Lead small-medium, non-critical projects and provide field oversight of critical projects under direction.
  • Support development of technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards.
  • Utilize and assist with development of procedures.
  • Provide technical support for Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, and Regulatory activities.
  • Provide field engineering oversight for commissioning, testing, and inspections under direct supervision.
  • Coordinate or lead project phases including research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning.
  • Support bid and evaluation processes through basic analysis and calculations.
  • Communicate with business areas, outside customers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate work of interns, drafters, technicians, craft personnel, and others.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Perform budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management for engineering projects.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and competencies.

Requirements
  • Required bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum; electrical engineering degree preferred
  • 0+ years relevant engineering experience for Entry Engineer level
  • 2+ years relevant engineering experience for Staff Engineer level
  • 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required, or 7+ years without EIT/FE, for Senior Engineer level
  • 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration required, or 15+ years without PE, for Principal Engineer level
  • Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies established for the applicable engineering level
  • EIT/FE preferred or strongly preferred at Entry and Staff levels
  • PE registration may be required depending on business need at Senior level
  • PE registration required for Principal Engineer level when paired with 9+ years of experience
  • Experience with communications related to distribution utility equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with technology and software used in utility engineering beneficial and preferred
