Job summary

Jones-Onslow EMC in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Electric Distribution Engineer/Designer to provide system design and coordination to ensure timely construction for member service. Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in utility operations.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to be self-motivated.
• Requires excellent computer skills for all communication and operational activities.
• Requires knowledge of electrical system operations and design.
• Ability to work outdoors, in adverse weather conditions for extended periods.
• Requires NC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Design, route, and lay out electric distribution and service facilities including transformers in accordance with accepted specifications standards and policies.
• Manage staking projects completely with minimal direct supervision.
• Prepare accurate electronic staking sheets, ensuring projects can be built in the most effective manner for long term operation and reliability.
• Organizes field route and schedules appointments with members and developers.
• Effectively communicate with perspective members and member service representatives on service requests from the field.
• Prepare estimates for new services, relocations, upgrades, temporary services, and line extensions.
• Research and prepare all right-of-way easements and contractual documents according to legal and Co-op requirements.
• Effectively resolve customer complaints and damage to plant issues to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes for members and the cooperative.
• Maintain positive public relations by providing service in a prompt and courteous manner while in the field meeting with prospective members.
