Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking a Distribution System Operating Supervisor to direct field personnel in the safe, cost-effective operation of the subtransmission and distribution system to ensure continuous electric service and timely restoration for customers in central and southern Illinois.

The role includes analyzing complex anomalies, issuing protections, dispatching crews during outages, supervising and mentoring staff, coordinating maintenance, and writing switching orders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Five or more years of direct, relevant experience (e.g., distribution systems, electric operations).
• SO/PD II test passed or required.

Responsibilities

• Direct field personnel in safe, cost-effective operation of subtransmission and distribution systems.
• Analyze anomalies using information from multiple sources to determine issue extent.
• Dispatch and supervise crews during outages and emergencies.
• Coordinate maintenance and restoration activities on distribution systems.
• Write and dispatch switching orders with proper load analysis and records.
• Restore outages safely and communicate with stakeholders.
• Mentor DSOS I staff and assist with training as directed.
