Job summary

The United Illuminating Company in Orange, CT is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on repair, replacement, maintenance, and new construction of electric distribution infrastructure. You will perform and teach power systems engineering analysis and promote safety, teamwork, and reliability.

You will guide design concepts, develop action plans, and present to governance for approvals, while collaborating across departments to meet customer and stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
• 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the power industry.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Able to train others and promote continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide technical guidance to the engineering team.
• Oversee design concepts, alternative solutions, and action plans for distribution power delivery.
• Set clear expectations aligned with corporate strategy for the engineering team.
• Evaluate team performance and hold engineers accountable.
• Promote cross-functional teamwork and adherence to safety, ethics, and performance.
• Develop goals and initiatives with Sr Manager for the engineering team.
• Identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational issues.
