Job summary

InterCon Construction is seeking an Electric Distribution Designer I to plan, coordinate, and complete distribution installation projects for Electric Utility Clients primarily in Wisconsin. The role involves independent work and collaboration with field teams to deliver compliant designs.

Responsibilities include collecting field data, analyzing sketches, managing permits, coordinating with crews and customers, and approving design changes while maintaining high technical standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the utility industry, preferably design-related.
• Willingness to train the right candidate on necessary design parameters, provided they possess appropriate industry knowledge.
• Ability to manage numerous tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to direct and work with others; self‑directed and require minimal supervision.
• Effective technical writing, analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including tracking and managing competing priorities.
• Capability to work effectively with all levels of management.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Complete electrical distribution design projects (underground and overhead) either independently or with support staff to meet Electric Utility Client needs.
• Collect field data and analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related documents to produce final products.
• Complete tabs and populate information in proprietary customer software.
• Oversee the permitting process with local authorities.
• Coordinate with construction crews for installation of facilities per design.
• Coordinate with customers on all aspects of project execution.
• Review design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client requirements, and related specifications.
• Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
