Job summary

National Grid in Beverly seeks an experienced Distribution Designer to design and support electric distribution projects, applying company standards to overhead and underground facilities. You will read diagrams, perform technical evaluations, coordinate with customers and contractors, and travel as needed.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to standards, and effective communication with municipal and regulatory stakeholders.

Qualifications

Must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or related field.
Must pass Aptitude and Department entry tests.
Designer B eligible for Promotion after 2 years of satisfactory performance.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to plan, schedule & coordinate multiple ongoing tasks.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond promptly.
Ability to utilize technology to gather and transmit field data.
Must have and retain a valid driver’s license.
Capable of lifting 25 pounds repeatedly.
Able to work in confined spaces, and in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

Apply National Grid construction standards and NEC/NESC guidelines to field and construction applications.
Read and interpret diagrams, site plans, load data, and other technical docs.
Perform technical evaluations of electric distribution facilities.
Develop, issue, and progress work packages using Work Management Systems.
Provide technical guidance to customers on service requirements and modifications.
