Job summary

National Grid plc is seeking a Distribution Design professional in Beverly, MA to design and support electric distribution projects, interpret diagrams and data, and provide technical guidance to customers. You will travel as needed, respond to emergencies, and collaborate across internal teams while adhering to company standards and safety rules.

The role requires an engineering degree, aptitude/test requirements, and the ability to lift 25 pounds and work in challenging conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Must pass Aptitude test and Department entry test.
• Designer B employees meeting requirements may be promoted to Designer A.
• Follow established standards and procedures.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Adjust to changing priorities and respond promptly.
• Utilize technology to gather and transmit field data.
• Must have and retain a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds repeatedly.
• Work in confined areas and in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Apply National Grid construction standards, Electrical Service Information and NEC/NESC guidance to field and construction applications.
• Read and interpret one line diagrams, site plans, load data, and other technical docs.
• Perform technical evaluations related to electric distribution facilities.
• Use Work Management Systems to develop, issue, and progress work packages.
• Provide technical guidance to customers regarding service requirements and modifications.
• Communicate with customers, municipal reps, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
• Collaborate with internal departments to support efficient work flow.
• Support teamwork and efficient practices across projects.
• Travel as required to support responsibilities.
• Provide on-the-job guidance and peer support.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and work extended hours during incidents.
