Job summary

Lubbock County seeks a Warehouse and Elections Equipment Supervisor to manage all phases of equipment within the election cycle. You will prepare, test, maintain, and deploy equipment, ensuring ADA compliance and accurate inventory control.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Three years of elections or warehouse experience.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 WPM.
  • Certification in election equipment software may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment for use during elections and ensure all items are ready for deployment.
  • Supervise and perform testing on all election equipment (federal, state, internal).
  • Coordinate delivery, setup, and pickup of equipment at polling sites.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies and forms; track movements via barcode systems.
  • Provide on-site and phone support to election workers during voting periods.
  • Travel to election sites for setup and troubleshooting; train temporary staff as needed.

Job description

Responsible for managing all warehouse operations during all phases of an election cycle. Operations include storage, inventory, maintenance, testing, preparation, training, delivery, use and return of election equipment and all steps involved in each of these operations.

  • Prepares all equipment for use during an election.
  • Supervises and performs all federal, state and internal testing on all equipment.
  • Assists with the proofing of testing equipment and paper ballots.
  • Prepares equipment for storage pre-election and post-election.
  • Establish and maintain an inventory program for equipment, supplies and forms.
  • Performs all routine maintenance of the election equipment and tracks equipment sent to the vendor for repairs.
  • Performs all post-election requirements on equipment and completes record retention duties.
  • Surveys polling places for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure that voters with disabilities are safe and have the ability to cast their votes without assistance.
  • Point of contact for polling sites for use of site, delivery, set-up and pick-up of equipment schedules.
  • Oversees the use of bar code technology to record the movement of the voting equipment and components throughout the election process.
  • Secures temporary staff to help with equipment delivery, supply distribution and other duties as needed for each election.
  • Participates in the decisions for development, coordination and implementation of schedules, procedures and programs for early voting and Election Day services.
  • Provides assistance to early voting clerks and election officials in a clear and professional manner.
  • Provides phone and on-site support to election workers during all voting periods.
  • Resolves routine questions and problems concerning voting equipment and procedures.
  • Attends training as assigned by supervisor to maintain, enhance, or acquire job skills.
  • In absence of Supervisor, serves as point-of-contact with the County Facilities Department regarding building maintenance.
  • Travel to election sites to deliver, setup, and troubleshoot equipment and supplies before, during and after the voting period.
  • Cross train with other employees and have initiative to help others.
  • Report to work on time and remain at work for duration of shift.
  • Respond to inquiries from general public via email, phone or in person.
  • Has knowledge of political precinct and district lines.
  • Assists other department divisions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or G.E.D.; Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; Three (3) years of elections or warehouse-related experience and typing speed of at least 30 WPM. Some college credit hours preferred. Ability to obtain certification in election equipment functionality and software. Current Texas driver's license and automobile liability insurance required. Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Good oral and written communication skills are required. The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment. Must be able to guide the work for a large staff of temporary employees. Basic knowledge of general office practices and procedures, and county records. Ability to read and understand instructions, analyze and interpret data, work independently in the absence of specific instructions and establish and maintain effective working relationships with county employees and the general public.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Maintain the ability to frequently stand, walk, kneel, and bend during the shift; Reach, grip and use fine dexterity; Push and pull objects up to 500 pounds; Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees; Frequently lift and carry up to 100 pounds; frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing; place arms above, at or below shoulder height; Use of vision and depth perception; Talking and hearing.
