Job summary

Dallas County Elections Department is seeking a GIS Technician to assist the GIS Analyst in maintaining the department's GIS system and applications that support election operations. Responsibilities include data collection, map creation, and training staff.

The role requires an Associate degree and about five years of related experience, strong GIS software skills, and ability to communicate clearly with staff and the public. This is a full-time on-site position located in Dallas, TX 75247.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in a related technical field.
• Five (5) years of work related experience or seventy-five (75) credit hours from an accredited college or university, or a combination.
• Knowledge of GIS, map making, data collection, scripting and automation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and maintenance of GIS databases, maps and reports used for elections.
• Maintain hardware, software, and workstations; manage software licenses; perform backups and inventory.
• Create GIS maps, presentations and training materials for staff.
