Job summary

Dallas County Elections Department is seeking a GIS professional to assist in maintaining the Elections Department’s GIS system and to develop applications that support election operations. The role includes managing software, hardware, and data collection, and training staff across departments.

Responsibilities include creating GIS databases and maps, producing reports, and ensuring licensing, backups, and security. Strong communication and map-making skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in a related technical field; five years of related work or 75 college hours in a related field.
• Proficient with GIS software; strong map making and data handling abilities.
• Ability to train staff and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain GIS databases, maps and reports for elections.
• Maintain hardware, software, and workstations; ensure licensing compliance and backups.
• Prepare GIS maps, presentations, and training materials.
• Train staff in GIS technologies and data collection processes.
• Maintain street addresses, boundaries, and spatial data; perform other duties as assigned.
