Job summary

Greene Resources is seeking an Election Equipment Field Technician to join our team in New Bern, NC. You will install, upgrade, and test election equipment, troubleshoot issues on site, and provide on-site training to customers.

The role requires weekly overnight travel within the client’s territory; per diem meals and lodging are covered, and mileage is reimbursed. No prior election experience is required; comprehensive training is provided.

Job description

Position: Election Equipment Field Technician

Location: New Bern, NC

Pay: $40,000 to $45,000/year

Experience

• No prior election equipment experience is required; structured technical training will be provided.
• Prior experience with converting internal documentation processes and procedures into actionable training materials and in-person training is highly desired.
• Any prior experience in the elections industry is a plus.

Type: Full-time; Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday–Friday (This position requires weekly overnight travel to customers within our client’s territory. Employees will report to the New Bern office each Monday morning to meet the crew and travel together in a company vehicle to the assigned job site. Per diem is covered for meals and lodging, and mileage is reimbursed for personal vehicle use when traveling to and from job sites, excluding travel to the New Bern office. Employees will return with the crew to New Bern on Friday evening and will be home on weekends.)

Greene Resources is seeking an Election Equipment Field Technician to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description

• Develop an understanding of all hardware and software systems utilized by our elections equipment manufacturer.
• Perform installation and upgrades of election equipment, ongoing preventive maintenance, and comprehensive readiness testing of all election hardware and software components.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for election equipment, addressing mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues to support ongoing operation.
• Complete assigned work orders and provide detailed documentation of all repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment condition.
• Manage equipment parts inventory with accuracy and security, ensuring timely return of defective components.
• Provide internal cross-training and deliver on-site customer training on the setup, operation, and care of election equipment.

Position Requirements

• Ability to master and convey the mechanics of how our customers’ voting equipment functions from both a hardware and software perspective.
• Basic computer literacy is helpful for documentation and diagnostics.
• Ability to apply learned knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with end-users, customers, and coworkers.
• Precise attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize this position’s various initiatives and responsibilities during high-volume workloads.
• Ability to stand, sit, or bend for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to eighty (80) pounds regularly throughout the workday.
• Ability to operate a non-commercial (“standard”) motor vehicle for travel responsibilities.
• Ability to occasionally handle a commercial vehicle (i.e., panel truck) as special projects demand.
