Overview

The Electronic Resources Librarian in the CSHL Library and Archives will manage delivery and electronic subscription services for library patrons, including ILL, collection development, and circulation. The role involves working with Laboratory scientific staff, publishers, vendors, and lending libraries to support access to electronic resources.

Responsibilities

• E-Subscriptions: Coordinate acquisition and management of electronic resources (e-journals, e-books, and databases); negotiate license terms with vendors and publishers; advise the director on collection development for electronic resources (journals, e-books, and databases) for researchers; maintain records and usage statistics; develop and monitor budgets; oversee vendor relations and license agreements; assist in the development and teaching of classes for staff on using the library's electronic resources.
• Document Delivery: Provide borrowing and lending services; interact with CSHL scientific staff and lending libraries; review, maintain, and upgrade ILL software; maintain and analyze records and generate reports.
• Access & Reference Services: Provide basic reference assistance; conduct online searches and citation verification; assist end-users with searching the online public access catalog and bibliographic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, etc.).

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Experience: 1–2 years working in a library with electronic collections required; experience in an academic or medical library preferred; experience in reference and collection development preferred.
• Knowledge/Skills: Strong computer proficiency and knowledge of library databases, ILL software, and automation; excellent communication skills; strong organization, time-management, and priority-setting abilities; ability to manage multiple files and understand licensing procedures; strong written and oral communication; ability to work with diverse individuals; numerical and analytical ability with library budgets; problem-solving; ability to use multiple online systems and standard office applications.
