State of California, Office of the Attorney General, Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA) invites you to join the Facilities Enforcement Team to prosecute elder and dependent‑adult abuse in California nursing homes. This multidisciplinary unit includes attorneys, nurses, and special agents working together to protect vulnerable residents.

Qualifications

Excellence in legal analysis, oral communication, research, and written work product.
Felony criminal jury trial experience is preferred.
Experience with medical records or healthcare industry, elder law, or medical malpractice helpful.
Mission-driven, organized, meets deadlines, works well with peers and supervisors, takes initiative.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of attorneys, special agents, nurses, auditors, and staff to investigate abuse referrals.
Advise on investigative plans, review warrants and interview strategy, and work with expert witnesses.
Evaluate evidence and potential theories of culpability for a filing decision.
Prosecute criminal elder abuse cases in state court at all stages of litigation, including charging, motions, settlement or jury trial.
Assist with unannounced inspections of nursing homes as part of the Operation SAFE program.
Participate in training and public/law enforcement outreach.
