Job summary

Onward Education in New Haven County, CT, is hiring a dedicated English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time, onsite role focuses on literacy, student achievement, and engaging instruction aligned with district standards.

The successful candidate will deliver standards-based ELA instruction, differentiate for diverse learners, assess progress, and collaborate with teachers and families to support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Connecticut Educator Certificate with Endorsement 015 (English, Grades 4–12), or eligibility for Connecticut certification.
• Candidates actively pursuing certification through an approved Connecticut certification pathway are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
• Experience teaching English Language Arts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction aligned with curriculum standards and district expectations.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that strengthen reading, writing, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and promote academic success.
• Assess student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
• Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and progress reports.
