Job Description

Anchor Academy is a therapeutic day school that specializes in trauma-informed services for students ages 10-22 with complex trauma histories, mental health issues, educational challenges, and/or behavioral difficulties. The school provides a supportive environment that addresses students’ educational, clinical, pre-vocational, recreational and behavioral needs. Certified special education and/or content teachers deliver a curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an ELA teacher for middle and high school students.
• Utilize the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Mathematics Standards in instruction.
• Deliver instruction in a clinically appropriate manner while maintaining a challenging learning environment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including educational, clinical, nursing, and vocational departments—to support student growth.
• Develop lesson plans and provide individualized instruction to students with complex trauma histories and behavioral difficulties.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $52,000 to $94,000 per year. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on experience, education, licensure, certifications, and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts teaching certification by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Experience teaching middle and high school aged students.
• Ability to work with students in a clinically appropriate manner.
• Experience in an alternative school setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of the needs of the population served and understanding of the range of interventions and treatments required.
• Acceptable CORI and OIG background check.
