Applitrack seeks an EL Teacher substitute for Great Lakes Elementary School to deliver English Language Development to ELs in grades YK-5, in both pull-out and integrated settings. You will collaborate with core teachers to support learning and assess EL progress using WIDA standards.

The role emphasizes leveraging multilingual learners' assets, engaging families, and delivering research-informed instruction aligned with SIOP and current EL best practices.

Qualifications

  • Valid secondary State of MI teacher certificate with an ESL (NS) endorsement or bilingual Spanish (YF) endorsement.
  • Additional Elementary (ZG) endorsement required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in both designated ELD settings and integrated settings.
  • Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support English Learners within core classes.
  • Utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework to connect instruction to standards.
  • Contribute to grade level data review meetings and Professional Learning Communities.
  • Support meaningful student and family engagement opportunities for multilingual learners.
  • Build upon ELs' cultural and linguistic assets to promote equity.
  • Implement instructional routines based on current research and the SIOP Model.
  • Administer EL assessments (WIDA Screener & WIDA Access) and communicate results.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in both designated ELD settings (pull-out, separate ESL classes) and integrated ELD settings (push-in, co-taught support).
  • Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support English Learners (ELs) within core classes.
  • Utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 to incorporate English Language Development standards.
  • Contribute to grade level data review meetings and Professional Learning Communities.
  • Support meaningful student and family engagement opportunities for multilingual learners.
  • Build upon the cultural and linguistic assets of ELs to support equitable educational opportunities.
  • Implement effective instructional routines based on current research, The SIOP Model, and the WIDA Standards Framework.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant data for ELs & Former ELs (FELs).
  • Leverage instructional technology to support making content comprehensible and developing academic language for ELs.
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to support newcomer ELs and their families.
  • Administer EL assessments (including WIDA Screener & WIDA Access) and communicate results & implications.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the EL Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
