Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking an EKG Telemetry Monitor Technician for day shifts. You will initiate and maintain telemetry leads, interpret EKG strips, and ensure continuous monitoring with rapid escalation to nurses as needed.

A high school diploma, at least 1 year of Monitor Tech experience or a Basic EKG course, and BLS certification are required; telemetry experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year as a Monitor Tech or related field and/or completion of Basic EKG course.
• Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification required on hire (AHA or ARC).
• Telemetry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, maintains, troubleshoots and discontinues electrodes, leads, and transmitters; selects appropriate lead for monitoring.
• Interprets EKG strips including rate, rhythm, PR, QRS, and QT intervals; records/interprets strips and obtains nurse approval for discharge from system.
• Keeps telemetry log current; maintains monitoring equipment and supplies; follows infection control policies.
