Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a field-service technician to install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor stations, meter stations, and pipeline facilities in Indiana. You will perform startup, calibration, and routine maintenance while ensuring safety and DOT compliance.

You will troubleshoot electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and document all activities, including hydrostatic tests, with SAP data entry for accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong understanding of SWA and safe work practices.
  • LOTO procedures knowledge is necessary.
  • Experience with PLCs and control systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel and work in harsh conditions.
  • Pre-employment medical screening and drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor and related facilities.
  • Oversee installation and startup of measurement equipment.
  • Perform routine and major maintenance on gas-driven units and accessories.

Job description

  • Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor station, meter station, communication systems, and other pipeline-related facilities
  • Oversee, direct, and perform installation, startup, and repair of measurement and regulation equipment
  • Perform routine and major maintenance on natural gas-driven compressor units and auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
  • Maintain power, process controls, programmable logic controllers, electric generation equipment, microwave multiplex equipment, and orifice meters
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses, and fixtures
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment and hand tools
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment for hazards, defects, adjustments, and repairs while ensuring code compliance
  • Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes
  • Maintain and use equipment documentation, including blueprints, schematics, line diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Perform diagnostic tests, accuracy tests, calibrations, and replacements of measurement and regulation equipment
  • Prepare and maintain records for DOT-auditable inspections, tests, calibrations, odorant tests, equipment changes, relief valve tests, and gas quality analysis
  • Coordinate with field personnel to route gas during right-of-way maintenance or emergency repairs
  • Locate pipelines per One Call and perform valve maintenance
  • Perform and witness hydrostatic tests
  • Complete work orders and enter data into SAP job plans
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a related industry
  • Thorough understanding of stop work authority (SWA) and safe work practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of lock out/tag out (LOTO) procedures
  • Basic knowledge of engine mechanics
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Availability for call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and extended days and/or weeks for emergency response
  • Ability to travel to other company locations, including overnight stays
  • Ability to work in adverse weather, extreme temperatures, and cramped conditions
  • Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions
  • Background screening required
  • Preferred: Associate degree including courses in engine maintenance or electricity/electronics
  • Preferred: Experience with Allen Bradley and/or Bristol controls
  • Preferred: Experience with gas measurement testing equipment
  • Preferred: Understanding of test equipment used to maintain control systems
  • Preferred: Experience with PLCs, pneumatic and electronic valves, transmitters, switches, and regulators
  • Preferred: Ability to interpret technical reference documents
