Job description

Primary Purpose

To implement and maintain electrical power circuits and equipment, control and automation systems, electronic and pneumatic equipment used in pipeline, pump stations, compressor stations, and measurement facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and adjust various pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, electronic, and Programmable Logic (PLC) control systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
• Conduct Inspection and Maintenance (I & M) checks on all control systems.
• Maintain electrical switchgear and power distribution.
• Execute advanced engine/compressor/pump analytical testing and troubleshooting.
• Lead efforts to develop and implement changes based on analytical testing.
• Evaluate, develop, implement, and maintain facility grounding systems.
• Perform general upkeep, maintenance, janitorial, and housekeeping duties of all facilities and equipment as needed.
• Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, regulatory, and tariff requirements.
• Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
• Oversee construction, maintenance, and/or work activities performed by third parties.
• Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.

Education

Associates degree from an accredited institution in a technical field or a related discipline.

Experience / Specific Knowledge

• Understand and operate electronic test instruments.
• Excellent record of safe work practices.
• Working knowledge and experience preparing drawings of electrical circuits.
• Working knowledge and experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams.
• Working knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
• Working knowledge of National Electric Codes.
• Ability to estimate installation, operating, and maintenance expenses associated with electrical and control systems.
• Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office 365, Teams).

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations

• May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for travel.

Physical Demands

• Carrying heavy objects weighing 45 pounds over distances up to 300 feet and objects weighing 59 pounds over distances of 15 feet.
• Pushing and pulling objects (pallet jack, carts) using up to 100 pounds of force over distances of approximately 120 feet.
• Generating up to 60 pounds of vertical force.
• Performing manual material handling activities, including overhead lifting, waist‑level lifting, and floor‑to‑waist lifts, with weights ranging from 13 pounds to 94 pounds.
• Engaging in whole‑body motions such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, and crawling.
• Reaching overhead, at shoulder, waist, knee, and floor levels, including shoulder circumduction and lateral flexion.
• Capable of upper extremity movements such as grasping, pinching, pushing, pulling, and fine motor tasks.
• Bending, twisting, pivoting, and performing stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing motions frequently.
• Tolerating environmental conditions such as exposure to noise, vibration, extreme temperatures (hot and cold), and wet conditions, both weather and non‑weather related.

Working Conditions

• Varying working conditions from office settings to working outdoors in inclement weather.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills, and Abilities

• Journeyman or Master electrical license.
• Prior work experience in the natural gas and/or crude oil industry, working with instrumentation, electronics, and control systems.
• Understanding of process controls and processing fundamentals.
• Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high‑pressure systems.
• Knowledge and experience with high‑pressure gas and liquids, processing equipment, medium voltage motors, and associated equipment, pumps and reciprocating or gas turbine engines and compressors.
• Knowledge of company policies and practices, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
