Job summary

Kemin Industries in Des Moines, IA seeks an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to foster a safe, compliant workplace. You will deliver training, support safety initiatives, and conduct audits and risk assessments to promote continuous improvement and regulatory adherence.

The role requires collaboration with operations teams, including production, maintenance, warehouse, and engineering, and involves travel up to 15% domestically.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or other science related discipline such as Chemistry or Engineering highly preferred.
• OSHA 30 certification, First Aid/CPR certified, EMT-B certification, Firefighter 1 & 2 certifications.
• Ability to apply safety/environmental skills to assist production improvements and job hazard analyses.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental standards/regulations (e.g., 29 and 40 CFR) or ability to learn them.

Responsibilities

• Develop and present general employee safety and environmental training and train-the-trainer sessions.
• Participate in incident investigations to determine probable root causes and develop corrective actions.
• Conduct inspections and audits, aid in corrective action development and advise management.
• Provide data collection/reporting, analyze accident trends, and suggest improvements.
• Maintain records to support safety requirements and training presentations.
• Assist with development/maintenance of EHS policies, programs, and procedures with EHS Manager.
• Lead 5S and continuous improvement activities.
• Organize and lead Safety Stand Down events with management support.
• Ensure all internal/external reporting requirements are performed accurately and timely.
