Job summary

Sappi is seeking an entry to early mid-level Environmental and Safety professional to join the Somerset Mill team in a role that blends field work with office duties. You will collaborate with established Environmental and Safety professionals to implement EH&S programs and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• College degree (Health and Safety or Engineering preferred).
• 1-4 years’ experience in Environmental or Safety, or 5 years of applicable experience.
• Industry background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Professionals with the management of the site Industrial Hygiene programs.
• Assist Environmental Professionals with environmental compliance for air and water permits.
• Assist Safety Professionals with data collection, reporting, and follow-up tracking of Safety & Health data.
• Assist Environmental Professionals with stormwater inspection and sampling.
• Assist Safety leadership in Emergency Response Team and related programs.
• Assist Environmental Professionals with universal waste, hazardous waste, and oil tank inspection programs.
• Support development, management, and implementation of site Health and Safety programs.
• Assist Environmental Professionals with risk assessments for new mill systems.
• Investigate safety concerns in the mill and support reporting/documentation for air and water programs.
• Provide on-call and/or shift coverage as needed.
