CARBO Ceramics LLC. in Houston, TX, seeks an Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager to lead EHS& S strategy, drive compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA and state agencies, and foster a culture of safe, environmentally responsible operations across all locations.

The role requires 10+ years in industrial EHS leadership, a engineering or science degree, strong communication and regulatory knowledge, and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, the Sciences, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years’ experience managing the EHS function in an industrial environment.
• In depth experience and knowledge in Environmental Permitting activities, State and Federal EHS Regulations and Safety management.
• Demonstrated expertise in the successful delivery of EHS results.
• Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer-facing skills, ability to influence and motivate leaders and employees, excellent oral and written communication & analytical skills, leadership skills, self-motivation.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations (MSHA, OSHA, EPA, state agencies).
• Oversee EHS regulatory permitting and reporting (air, water, waste, incidents).
• Coordinate sustainability activities including emissions tracking and climate risk assessment.
• Lead industrial hygiene sampling, EHS audits, incident investigations, and insurance matters.
• Develop and maintain EHS standards and provide training as required.
• Lead product stewardship and ensure proper chemical hazard communication and registrations.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and business leaders to direct EHS efforts.
• Investigate, measure and evaluate EHS conditions and support related engineering activities.
• Promote safety priority and provide EHS consultancy for process improvements.
• Hire, develop and retain talent; perform annual performance appraisals; budget planning for EH&S.
