Job summary

C&D Technologies, Inc. seeks an Environmental Health & Safety professional to support the EHS Manager in implementing IIPP, respiratory protection, PPE, machine safety, lockout/tagout, fire safety, ergonomics, and related programs.

The role involves leading safety committees, investigating incidents, coordinating environmental testing, and preparing reports for regulators. Strong communication and project management are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Environmental, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in related field.
• Knowledge of state and government regulations that affect safety and environmental.
• Excellent follow-up skills and ability to deal effectively with people.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and project management ability.

Responsibilities

• Chair the Employee Safety Committee.
• Investigate injuries with relevant departments and HR.
• Develop hazard control practices and environmental programs.
• Prepare environmental reports to regulatory agencies and ensure compliance.
• Lead environmental teams and conduct regular inspections (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Coordinate service providers for environmental tests and calibrations.
• Review permits and ensure compliance with environmental obligations.
• Interact with regulatory agencies for compliance inspections.
• Draft reports with lab results and present to management for review.
