Job summary

Fort Wayne Metals is hiring an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to join the EHS team. You will ensure regulatory compliance, develop and maintain environmental and safety programs, and drive continuous improvement across facilities.

Expect regular audits, training, and cross-functional collaboration with operations. Ideal candidates hold a relevant degree, certifications, and at least 3 years of environmental or safety experience, with strong communication and Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business Management, Occupational Safety, or related field or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities at a significant level of responsibility, required.
  • RCRA and DOT Hazardous Material Certification, as required.
  • 30-hour OSHA certification, CPR Trainer certification and Incident Command training preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years Environmental or Safety, or industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of new environmental and safety laws, regulations, and best practices to support compliance, benchmarking and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide regulatory support and information to maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental laws.
  • Develop and maintain Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plans and updates; develop and lead Spill Drill Training; monitor spill report and resolve spills.
  • Drive injury prevention and injury-free culture through developing and managing behavior-based safety program which will incent and reward proactive safety behavior.
  • Review all incoming material and chemical approvals and maintain safety data sheet system.
  • Oversee and support Environmental Management System internal audits; direct facility environmental audits and drive corrective actions resulting from audits and drills.
  • Assist with Regulated Waste Management Program by waste determination, tracking and waste minimization projects.
