Job summary

Kairos Power in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to lead environmental program implementation and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of EHS experts to promote safety and environmental responsibility on site.

The role requires developing training, performing audits, and maintaining records while engaging with regulators and supporting incident investigations in a dynamic R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in an environmental, health and safety program.
• Experience preparing EHS documentation including incident reports and action plans.
• Experience coordinating EHS training with internal departments.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support safety culture.
• Professional certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with EHS professionals to align with environmental goals.
• Walk the floor to understand workflows and EHS concerns.
• Engage with regulators to ensure compliance with permits.
• Develop, review, and conduct EHS-related training.
• Stay current with environmental regulations and inspections.
• Prepare regulatory reports, permits and documentation as required.
• Conduct audits and inspections to identify improvements.
• Manage hazardous materials and waste in compliance with requirements.
• Assist in incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Support other EHS functions and act as a backup for team members.
