Job summary

Mt. Hood Community College is seeking an on-site Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to coordinate safety, environmental, and occupational health activities in accordance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

This role provides administrative support for risk management, conducts environmental monitoring, and helps integrate green practices into campus operations. The successful candidate will manage EHS training, maintain records, respond to inspections, oversee hazardous

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in environmental, sustainability, health and safety program, risk management, safety engineering, biological or physical science, or related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and/or construction safety.
• Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the College’s community, students and employees and commitment to access and diversity.
• Current driver’s license, insurance, access to reliable automobile during work hours, and at least three (3) years of driving history.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and advises on safety, environmental, and occupational health activities and applicable policies and procedures, and provides administrative assistance on risk-related activities.
• Reviews MHCC environment and working practices to identify and mitigate hazards; develops and implements loss prevention strategies.
• Oversees the MHCC Employee and Van Driver Programs, including reviewing applications and driving records, administering driving tests, issuing driving cards, and maintaining database; develops and distributes educational materials.
