Job summary

Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, OR is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety professional to coordinate and advise on safety, environmental, and occupational health policies and procedures. The role supports risk management, conducts monitoring, and maintains records related to EHS activities.

You will lead training, manage SDS inventories, oversee hazard materials and compliance reporting, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in environmental, sustainability, health and safety or related field.
  • Two years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and/or construction safety.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the college community, students and employees and commitment to access and diversity.
  • Current driver’s license, insurance, driving availability to off-campus sites, and at least three years of driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures and standards per laws; recommend changes to improve effectiveness.
  • Review campus environment and practices to identify hazards and implement loss prevention strategies.
  • Oversee Employee and Van Driver Programs; review applications, driving records, tests, and maintain database; provide education materials.
  • Coordinate EHS surveys and mandated reporting; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and calibrate safety equipment and SDS inventory; assist departments with inventory.
  • Manage hazardous materials inventory and annual Fire Marshal survey; ensure proper handling and disposal according to regulations.
  • Submit reports to regulatory agencies; respond to inspections and emergencies.
  • Conduct annual asbestos inspections and provide related education and support for the Asbestos Management Program.
  • administer SafeColleges programs; coordinate subscriptions and compliance.
  • Provide strong customer service to students, staff, and community; foster a welcoming and respectful campus environment.
