Position Summary

The ESH Specialist III – Environmental is a senior‑level subject matter expert responsible for leading environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and environmental risk management programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (EPA, TCEQ, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act).
  • Manage environmental permits (air, water, waste) including application, renewal, and reporting.
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and ensure timely submission of required reports (TRI, TierII, stormwater).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs such as hazardous waste management, air emissions monitoring, wastewater & stormwater management, and spill prevention (SPCC plans).
  • Lead environmental audits and compliance assessments.
  • Support corporate sustainability initiatives including energy conservation, waste reduction, and carbon footprint tracking.
  • Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce operational impact.
  • Track and report environmental KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and ensure proper controls are in place.
  • Lead investigations of environmental incidents, spills, or regulatory non‑compliance events.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Provide technical guidance to operations and leadership on environmental requirements and best practices.
  • Promote environmental awareness and stewardship throughout the site.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare internal and external reports, including audits, compliance status, and sustainability metrics.
  • Support ISO14001 EMS implementation and maintenance (if applicable).
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, or related field (required).
  • Experience: 4–10+ years of environmental compliance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting; strong experience managing permits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Certifications (preferred): CHMM, CEP, ISO14001 Lead Auditor, OSHA certifications (e.g., CSP).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Deep knowledge of environmental regulations; strong understanding of hazardous waste management and permitting processes; ability to interpret complex regulations; excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause investigation skills; strong communication skills; proficiency with environmental data management systems and reporting tools.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Combination of office and field work in industrial environments; exposure to hazardous materials, noise, and outdoor conditions; ability to wear PPE and perform site inspections; may require travel to multiple sites or regulatory meetings.

Hiring Salary Range
