Job summary

Abbott is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety specialist to lead compliance activities and support site EHS programs. You will coordinate analyses, investigations, training, and audits to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

Working with a regional team, you will help manage hazardous waste, review SDS and MSDS, and contribute to ISO 14001 processes. Occasional travel up to 20% may be required. Abbott offers competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, health sciences, or an equivalent field.
• 0–2 years of environmental work experience.
• Ability to work in a matrixed, geographically diverse environment with up to 20% travel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead environmental compliance activities, programs and prevention efforts.
• Support analyses, training, investigations, inspections and internal audits for EHS programs.
• Manage hazardous waste activities including collection, transportation and disposal in compliance with regulations.
• Review new hazardous materials and MSDS/SDS; advise on usage and disposal.
• Develop and lead compliance training.
• Review SDS database and site chemical inventories.
• Support ISO 14001 process and EMS maintenance.
• On-call for EHS emergencies (24/7).
• Contribute to data gathering for report metrics.
