EHS Specialist: Hazard Reduction & Compliance Advocate

Job summary

Belcan is seeking a proactive EHS professional to maintain a safe, compliant workplace across manufacturing operations in Somerville, MA. You will lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and environmental programs, partnering with engineering and operations to drive hazard reduction.

You will advance OSHA/EPA/RCRA compliance, manage SDS databases and hazardous waste areas, and deliver training while supporting continuous improvement and Good Catch initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• 3–5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, R&D, or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry, EPA, RCRA, and industrial hygiene principles.
• Hands-on experience partnering with engineering on equipment modifications and safety improvements.
• Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and hazard reviews for new equipment, processes, and operations.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for injuries, equipment damage, chemical spills, and near-misses.
• Manage site chemical inventories and SDS databases.
• Oversee hazardous waste storage areas and satellite accumulation areas.
• Perform EHS inspections and audits to ensure regulatory and site compliance.
• Support Good Catch/near-miss program and drive corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering for safety improvements and hazards reduction.
• Deliver EHS onboarding and annual compliance training.
