Job summary

Hexion Inc. in Morganton, NC is seeking an EHS Specialist to lead the Health and Safety program and ensure a compliant, incident-free workplace.

You will provide field support, coaching, and technical expertise to site leadership while aligning with corporate EHS goals. Requirements include 5+ years in EHS within manufacturing or chemical environments, a Bachelor's degree, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven ability to lead safety initiatives, incident investigations, and training programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an EHS professional in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess facility operations for regulatory applicability and local regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Lead Health and Safety programs with operations and plant leadership.
• Identify hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks in chemical processes.
• Manage safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals with Environmental COE.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify improvements and maintain compliance.
• Provide and monitor safety training programs for employees.
• Respond to emergency situations and coordinate evacuations if necessary.
• Maintain records of safety incidents and reports to regulatory bodies.
• Lead Incident Investigation and drive corrective actions.
• Support sampling, audits, and permitting for the site.
• Assist in contractor safety training and field activities.
• Engage with the safety team across site.
