Progress Rail, A Caterpillar Company, Belton, MO, seeks an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations. The role supports facility health and safety programs, conducts audits and training, and assists with incident investigations.

The position emphasizes data entry into safety systems, incident reporting, and collaboration with EHS, Plant and HR leaders. A BS in EHS or related field plus manufacturing experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of environmental practices and Federal/State safety rules.
• Certified in General Industry 30-hour class.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspects/evaluates environment, equipment and processes for compliance with regulations.
• Delivers safety and health training; provides PPE and motivates safe behavior.
• Enters data into safety systems; conducts audits to identify hazards and non‑compliance.
• Assists with incident reporting and root cause corrections with EHS Manager.
• Handles regulatory inspections and prepares required reports (EPA, OSHA).
• Performs monitoring and testing for permit requirements.
• Assists with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for programs.
• Administers first aid for minor injuries and liaises with management.
